Overview

Stephen Ng specializes in the taxation of financial products and derivatives, as well as impacts on individual taxes. He guides clients through tax issues affecting hedge funds, private equity investments and funds of funds.

With his tax consulting and compliance expertise, he also helps hedge funds strategically minimize investors’ tax burdens. In addition, Stephen conducts tax analyses of fund structuring, reviews private placement memorandums for tax compliance and tax minimization, and prepares Schedule K-1 reporting for investors, among other services.

Before joining Kaufman Rossin in 2012, Stephen was a senior tax manager in the financial services tax group of a regional accounting firm. He also worked several years at Ernst & Young, where he provided tax services to hedge fund clients with various trading strategies and financial products.

Stephen has lectured at New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) chapter tax conferences, the Financial Research Associates Tax Conference and Strafford webinars. He has authored several articles in industry and trade publications, including Bloomberg BNA’s Daily Tax Report, The Tax Adviser and International Tax Journal.

He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He is also a member of the New York State Society of CPAs, where he is a former Chair of the Nassau Chapter’s Taxation committee, and is currently the Chair of the Taxation of Financial Instruments Committee.

Stephen graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from University at Albany, and cum laude with a master’s degree in finance from Fordham University.
