A new scholarship endowment honors Jason Chorlins, CPA, CFE, CAMS, CITP, risk advisory services principal and banking practice co-leader at Kaufman Rossin, one of the top 100 CPA and advisory firms in the U.S.

Kaufman Rossin, Mr. and Mrs. George Gulisano, and the FICPA Scholarship Foundation created the Jason A. Chorlins Endowment in recognition of Chorlins’ work for the Florida Institute of CPAs and his role as past president of the foundation. Proceeds from the $25,000 endowment will provide annual scholarship funding for accounting students in Florida.

“Jason is an exceptional professional, both in the work he does for our clients and in the work he does to help young professionals in the industry,” said Ivan Garces, risk advisory services chair at Kaufman Rossin. “His unrelenting drive, work ethic, and technical expertise are unmatched. Through this endowment, Kaufman Rossin is proud to honor Jason and amplify the work of the FICPA Scholarship Foundation in support of accounting students.”

Garces presented the endowment to Chorlins at the organization’s 2018 family retreat and golf tournament, its signature fundraiser. Chorlins co-chairs the annual event with George Gulisano, CEO of Florida Skin Center.

«Over the years, Jason has been instrumental in raising significant money, fulfilling the [foundation’s] mission of providing scholarships to Florida accounting students in need,” said Gulisano, who is also a past president of the foundation.

The FICPA Scholarship Foundation will administer the scholarship. The Tallahassee-based, statewide, not-for-profit association provides education scholarships to accounting students completing their fifth and sixth year of study at universities in Florida. It will grant more than $155,000 in scholarships this year, and has granted more than $3.5 million in scholarships since its founding in 1959.

Chorlins is also a past president of the board of trustees of the FICPA Educational Foundation. He has been with Kaufman Rossin since 2007, and spearheads forensic and financial service investigative engagements for financial institutions. He advises clients on anti-money laundering, internal corporate investigations, due diligence, regulatory compliance matters and more.

A former professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia’s accountancy program, Chorlins speaks frequently on Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering matters across the country, and sits on the ACAMS Education Task Force and the board of directors of the Southeast Center for Financial Training (CFT). He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Florida and Missouri, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP).
