Broward Executives Get ‘Locked Up’ For Charity

Broward County community leaders will swap their business suits for prison uniforms.

Hospice of Broward County Foundation will host its Jail & Bail event Aug. 25. Executives will be taken into custody, and each jailbird will be responsible for raising $2,500 as bail money. Donations will be received through a secure fundraising website.

Participants include Cynthia Baker, Candi Evett, Brian Freed, Jennifer Jacobs, Jarred John, Lois Marino, Jason Neufeld, Shawn Sackman, Craig Tanner, Andrea Thompson, Meredith Tucker and Valerie Vitale.

«I am honored to have been asked to participate in this event for such a worthy cause on behalf of hospice,» said Sackman, SunTrust’s Broward County market president. «I truly believe in the programs and services [it] provides, as it impacts so many families in our community and beyond. I look forward to raising funds that will benefit these special programs and services offered to patients and their families who need it most.»

A release party will take place at Stache Drinking Den + Coffee Bar, 109 SW Second Ave. in Fort Lauderdale, the same day from 5 to 7 p.m. Those who helped bail out the participants are welcome to attend.

Hospice of Broward County Foundation and Hospice by the Sea Foundation have played an integral part in helping patients receive the hospice care they deserve. Money raised will help to continue the special programs and services that go above and beyond traditional hospice care, including comfort care, music therapy, and individual and family bereavement services.
